Canning – How do house tomato sauce and basil
Each year, plant a garden that always includes a couple of rows of tomatoes. We enjoy preserved our own homemade tomato sauce for use throughout the winter and spring, when tomatoes are out of season here in Pennsylvania.
Conserve your own juice, not difficult and will require your home canning supplies basis, like a pot of water bath, jars, room size with rings and seals, funnel spoon and pot up. If you do not have these fonts, you can buy a complete kit in your local food store or through a store called Hardware Kitchen leading online home canned.
In the following recipe, I used fresh basil and parsley, I grew in my garden but … certainly can use dried herbs if you have on hand. You want to start with or very ripe (but not altered) Tomato Red.
To blanch tomatoes: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Put a little tomato in water for 60 seconds. With pair of tweezers or a spoon, remove and place the tomatoes in cold water for 5 minutes. You should now be able to discard the skin easily.
Recipe for tomato sauce and basil
3 tablespoons olive oil
3 onions, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
25 large tomatoes fresh
2 teaspoons table salt
2 teaspoons black pepper
2 v. Tea Granulated sugar
1 tablespoon tablespoons + 1 teaspoon beef bouillon
Measure and add the olive oil in a large nonstick saucepan stock. On fire medium, mixed with onion and garlic and sauté onions in oil for 1 minute. Add chopped basil and parsley. Reduce heat.
Blanch and remove skin from tomatoes and process in blender or food processor to make Tomato Juice. Add your pan juices and add the rest ingredients, stirring after each addition with a spatula silicone nonstick.
Reduce heat to medium and cover their boat. Simmer the mixture for 1 to 1 1 / 2 hours, stirring every 10 to 15 minutes.
Once the sauce is cooking, spoon into hot, clean jars, taking care to leave a 1 / 2 "headspace at the top of the bottle. with a clean cotton towel, wipe the rims clean and add the seal and the jar ring. Treat your jars in a single pot of water in the tub for 45 minutes. Remove jars and let cool to room temperature. This sauce will keep up 1 year if your jars sealed properly.
