Old Fashioned Recipes Relish: Relish carrot and sweet and hot onion Relish
Add a touch of something more to your meals with sauces homemade. There is something very satisfying to put a dish on your table as you yourself have made. Condiments are also perfect in gift baskets as a gift for hostesses, etc. These old recipes for Hot condiments and spices, carrots and sweet onions are easy to manufacture and deliver two very different options.
HOT RELISH
Another old recipe for southern Indiana.
12 peppers
12 green tomatoes
12 cups red or green peppers
12 onions
3 cups sugar
3 c. tablespoon salt
2 cups cider vinegar
Cut vegetables. (In the modern kitchen of today, this can be done with a food processor.) Put in a large colander and run water over the mixture for 5 minutes.
Bring sugar, vinegar and salt to boil in a saucepan. Place vegetable mixture in a large saucepan or skillet. Pour the boiling sugar mixture over the vegetables. Cook over medium heat until hot but not to a rolling boil, stirring occasionally. Put in quart jars, place lids and kept tightly sealed. Be sure to seal the jars (which should make a popping sound and / or center Script lid slightly.)

CARROT AND RELISH sweet onion
2 sweet onions, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
1 tsp Tea fresh rosemary, chopped
1 bay leaf
1 / 3 cup cider vinegar
Water 1 / 3 cup
In a medium sized container with a lid, combine all ingredients and mix well. Place the lid on the pot. Refrigerate at least taste night. Before serving, remove bay leaf and drain the liquid.
This is a good sauce to serve with poultry, fish and pork.

What would you do better with next??
My kitchen contains the following: chicken breast (boneless, skinless) broth of the various tomato products, canned carrots, celery, shallots, green pepper and garlic and red sweet quinoa Brown wild rice, pearl barley, canned tomato sauce as I have several bakery products, spices, oils, etc. What is the best thing for the whip and use some of these varieties?
What such a chicken cooked with vegetables served with wild rice or brown? 4 boneless chicken breasts without skin 1 large carrot, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch slices 3 stalks celery, sliced 2-inch pieces 1 small medium onion, 1 1 / 2 inch pieces 1 bay leaf, fresh or dried 4 sprigs fresh thyme 6 cups chicken broth (if you have enough, only with water to 1 cup chicken broth and 1 per cup) 1 cup brown or wild rice, 10 pieces of green onions, scissors or chopped, garnish 1 / 4 cup parsley for chicken breasts Season top with salt and arrange in a deep fryer, large. Cover chicken with vegetables. Add bay leaf, sprigs of thyme and chicken broth to the pan. Place over high heat and cook, covered. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove bay leaf and thyme sprigs. Remove chicken and slice. Return the chicken slices to the pan and adjust seasoning to taste. Place over low heat to keep warm. Cook rice in 1 cup of broth from the pot, or cooking chicken broth or water to prepare in advance so your chicken does not wait for the rice. Put rice in bowl, add the chicken and vegetables. Cover the meat and vegetables with a little broth. Garnish each serving chives and parsley. ________________________________________________ You can make a chicken cacciatore over rice. Simply replace your chicken breast for a whole chicken for onions and shallots 1 / 2 tsp flour 1 / 2 tsp Tea. garlic salt 1 / 2 tsp Tea. salt 1 / 4 tsp Tea. black pepper 1 / 4 tsp. paprika 1 chicken cut into pieces, dredge in flour mixture 1 / 4-1 / 3 c. olive oil 2 medium yellow onions, sliced or chopped 1 green pepper, sliced 4.5 or cloves garlic, crushed 2-3 tomatoes sliced or medium-term, 2.3 chopped celery, chopped 2 8 oz cans tomato sauce 1 / 2 tsp Tea. oregano 1 / 4 c. Tea. pepper 1 / 2 tsp Tea. garlic salt 1 / 2 tsp Tea. After the chicken with salt is coated with flour mixture, return in hot oil and add the remaining ingredients. Simmer until chicken is cooked. If needed, use the left over mixture flour to thicken the sauce. Serve with hot rice. For a change that can cut the chicken into small pieces before you begin. ___________________________________________________ The Creole chicken and rice: Ingredients: 2 cups rice 2 cups cooked chicken, chopped 1 tablespoon butter 1 medium onion, chopped 1 green pepper 1 / 2 cup celery chopped 1 can (14.5 ounces) tomatoes, salt and pepper to taste Preparation: Put the cooked rice in a saucepan butter 2 1/2-quart. Place chicken on rice. Heat butter in a skillet, sauté onion, green pepper, and celery until tender. Add tomatoes, salt and pepper, let simmer for 10 minutes. Pour sauce over chicken and rice. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Makes 4 to 6. This is a good recipe Mashed Sweet Potatoes: Mashed Sweet Potatoes: 2 pounds sweet potatoes 1 / 2 cup whipping cream 3 tbsp tablespoons light brown sugar, 3 tablespoons tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons sugar or maple syrup pinch of salt and pepper 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves, optional Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place potatoes on a baking sheet covered with foil and bake until tender and beginning to pouring the sugar syrup, about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let stand until cool. Cut potatoes in half lengthwise and scoop the flesh with a spoon in a large bowl. Add cream, sugar, butter, honey, salt and pepper and thyme, if any, and blending, grinding potato until the mixture is smooth. Cover to keep warm until serving.
